Man, am I snippy! . The AS website -still- doesn't list Oregon stores as part of the promotion, but many of us on FT have been living in Oregon and earning AS miles at Oregon Safeways for years - and there are AS advertisements up in the stores to boot!

Werid... Safeway in ANC always seem to have the highest prices and poorest service IME... Produce selection is overpriced and poor, and most everything is more then the other guys... Sure I do shop there for their sale items... but other then that... I typically go elsewhere...

Agreed. I almost never shop there unless it's after midnight and all competitors are closed. The 0.5 mile per dollar spent cannot make up for their higher prices. I usually drive 3-5x the distance to patronize Costco or Freddie's. OK, so that's only 3-5 miles here in ANC.

Got the e-mail today (active link included for anyone who wants to renew):
So my question is...why? Is this just a way for Carrs/Safeway to get people out of the program who aren't paying attention?

I received it yesterday, too (despite already re-enrolling last week with the link provided by the OP [or someone else in the thread]), and went ahead and followed the link. Like Rifleman69, I did not need to check the box to successfully re-enroll.

I was able to reenroll with no problem. I think at the end of my 3rd year I may get my 125 miles. Despite my afternoon bus stop being at a safeway, I still travel a little bit further to shop elsewhere. I can't believe they remodeled this particular Safeway yet did not install one of those self service scanning lanes like most other stores have. The check out people are notoriously chatty and slow.

what is with this re enroll garbage! I got an email today too and tonight also noticed a big stack of paper renewal forms at the checkstand. They must be trying to get rid of the dead weight accounts.

Mine was remodeled and has the new self-checkout, but as I only go there at 3am after work, it's never open. Fortunately, there are no lines at 3am. The downside is that without the lines, the lone night-shift cashier tends to wander off from his checkstand and sometimes I have to wander around the store to locate him before I can check out...
