Question about MVPG status

As of right now, my alaskaair.com account says that I am 8000 miles short of Gold status. I was going to make a trip in december but got cancelled due to the snow. I was wondering if there is any way I can make my gold status? I am travelling to Bombay, India on NWA in February which will help me get the 8000 miles. Do you guys think if I call alaska air they will make an exception for the gold status and grant me gold?

Even though it says you are 8000 short of MVPG status, that "clock" was reset to zero at midnight 1/1. Unfortunately you missed the boat. About the best you could hope for is for AS to grant you a challenge to fly a certain number of segments in a given time-frame but those segments would have to be on AS metal. Your flight to Mumbai wouldn't count anyway.
