Alaska's Boeing 737-900

Hi FT talkers,

I just got my April's OAG timetable and was delighted to find the listing of four AS flights with the 739 designator.

Here are the list of Boeing 737-900 flight beginning April 29, 2001...
AS 83 SEA-ANC Lv0819 Arr1046 B 739
AS 86 ANC-SEA Lv1135 Arr1557 L 739
AS 610 SEA-LAS Lv1647 Arr1909 S 739
AS 561 LAS-SEA Lv1951 Arr2224 / 739

AS 650 SEA-LAS Lv0730 Arr0941 S 739
AS 651 LAS-SEA Lv1023 Arr1251 S/ 739
AS 566 SEA-LAX Lv1341 Arr1612 / 739
AS 529 LAX-SEA Lv1658 Arr1928 D 739

I have just found a $300RT fare between LA and ANC via SEA, and can fly three segments on the brand new aircraft...

However, can I trust the OAG information? Have anyone heard anything about the brand new Boeing 737-900? Will they be certified on time? ITN still lists those flights as B737-400s, which makes me hesitate to take the flight.

Any comments!

Thanks
Carfield

I cancelled my subscription to the OAG two years ago as a result of misinformation like this.

Alaska doesn't even receive their first 737-900 until May 16. It will not be in service until late May or early June. The aircraft will enter first serve the SEA-ANC, SEA-LAS and SEA-LAX markets, with 16 seats in First and 156 in Coach.

There should be three 739s by the end of June and five by August.

Carfield,
I don't know 'bout the 900's but I do like the fare! I just booked myself a couple of ANC-LAX trips.
Best regards,

I just saw one of AS's first -900s at BFI today as I was driving past. Mighty long craft for a 737, I must say.
