Easier upgrade - SEA-EWR or SJC-EWR

Or are both hopeless for an MVP Gold? Flying on a Tuesday in October for what it's worth. I suspect the SJC-EWR might be a little easier given the relative paucity of AS elites there, but don't have any personal data points.

Thanks!

SJC by far. Newer route not touching SEA--should be easy to snag as Gold.

I flew out of SJC this morning and walked past the EWR flight as it was boarding, it appeared that nobody was on the upgrade list.

You can always try that morning flt ex SEA to EWR. Might be a 60+ person upgrade list though with 20+ 75Ks lol

agree, i forgot about LAX

i think LAX-BWI is pretty easy (i'm 2-2 or 3-3 I think), but LAX-DCA is likely a bit tougher (no experience)

I'm 2/2 as an MVP on SAN-BWI. <3 that route

I think the California transcons are going to become a lot more elite-heavy once more of the VX people have shifted over, and especially once Alaska has had a chance to build elite loyalty there. It's easy to forget that something like 40% of PNW residents are Mileage Plan members. AS execs are trying to build that level of loyalty in California, so within a few years I'm sure upgrades will get much tighter on those routes.

Definitely SJC-EWR! LAX-BWI and vv is also very easy. Flying home from college, in all 20 times I've taken the flight, only time I haven't got the upgrade is when the East coast had that massive hurricane and flights were canceled for day. Every other time was upgraded at window, besides once at the gate for BWI bound flight

As a gold flying SEA-EWR many time, 0% upgrades, I consider myself lucky if I get within five spots of an upgrade.

Yeah BLI is a great little airport with inexpensive parking and easy UG's to Hawaii usually. BWI is great too!

I can confirm that it's (or at least was) very easy to get an upgrade on SJC-EWR route as MVPG: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28071602-post186.html
