That's an idea. Direct flight to CHS with stop in CHI-- AS 797/798.

KPAE? As in Boeing factory, future of flight museum, and plane spotting paradise? I would be very interested in a DO here! I didn't realize that KPAE could host commercial flights, just kind of assumed that it was all Boeing/private flights.

Over the years there have been a number of stops and starts by AS and others from Paine. See:

Traffic is so bad on I-5 for commuters, I know a few people that would probably pay for PAE-SEA service.

That's an interesting theoretical start
AS does 1xJFK from SEA as a redeye (so it's plane utilization). I think PAE-JFK is about as likely as GEG-JFK.

Keep in mind G4 and/or NK will likely hop in at some point... so staking a claim on LAS is pretty important. Because if AS doesn't, it's a lock that G4/NK would.

Extra sleep!

I give myself 2 hours to get to SEA from Mill Creek. If it's raining, forget it. Now I can get more shut eye. I hope PAE has a Starbucks at the terminal...

Too bad not enough traffic to justify a Bored Room or Alaska Lounge.

What's the weather like there in terms of fog delays? Seems like every time I drive by Everett, it's overcast at best. But maybe being up on a bluff, the fog isn't as bad?

I think there is a WN roue that is like that. More extreme easier to fly to Chicago and back during carmageddon.

shortest WN to my knowledge is AUS-HOU, hardly the same metro...

most recent examples of short flights within the same metro area were primarily operated by OOdbaUAX with ONT-LAX and OXR (oxnard)-LAX, IIRC. both flights were about 25% longer than a hypothetical PAE-SEA.

both of those went belly up quite awhile ago and would certainly have not survived the retirement of the EMB120s anyways. i'd be willing to wager that PAE-SEA, if priced correctly for connecting traffic, would be modestly successful as a twice a day flight on Q400 or operated by PenAir.

Well if not JFK, perhaps DCA? They could move a frequency from SEA perhaps? Or lobby for a new slot...

JFK has been constrained due to slots, but AS does have quite a few more slots now these days just not sure about what time they are good for.
