737-900 first class seating chart discrepancy?

So the 737-900 flights I am looking at for next year have 12 first class seats (last row 34 with 6 seat) displayed on Alaska booking page, but the only published seating charts (by Alaska or other sites) only show 737-900 having 16 first class seats (last row 33 with 3 seats)...

Can someone explain which one is correct? And why the difference?

In a much publicized event AS is adding premium economy and reducing first from 16 seats to 12. Until all planes are converted some have 16 with no PE and others have 12 with PE.

I've heard about this, but the reconfigured cabin still shows 16 first class seats for 737-900, and the online seating chart shows 12 first class seats, and no mention about premium class, only preferred seats are in the chart (curiously, row 10, 12, 12 are gone from the online seating chart)....

so even with the reconfigured cabin, the numbers still don't match.

12 F seat 739 seat maps (and there are 16 F seat maps on some routes/flights) are likely there to keep 4 pax from getting bumped or downgraded in the event of a tail swap to a 738.

As noted by Rusty, AS has had some problems with aircraft substitutions (and having to downgrade up to 4 persons from F) and so is acting to prevent downgrades from occurring if a PE equipped aircraft is substituted. Have a look at some of the downgrade threads.

You know, I may have missed it but I've heard very little about plans to reconfigure the -900s. What I have heard is that they're going to keep all 16 First Class seats.

Question is - will those 16 First Class seats be reconfigured to the new 41" pitch?

i am skeptical if AS would sacrifice potential losses of 4 first class paid fare revenue in order to have an insurance of aircraft swap, which doesn't happen that often....

The only things posted have said the 900's will maintain 16F seats. Only the 800's will be 12.

What happens is AS lists the plane as 737-900 but loads the 737-800 seat map as a placeholder until they finalize the schedule. They may have it listed as a 737-900 now they may change it to a 737-800 based on current sales and sales projections.

All of the -800s will have been reconfigured and put into operation beginning in January. They'll all have the increased pitch in F with 12 seats, and PE in the front of coach.

The -900s will be undergoing reconfiguration to add PE and adjust F during 2017. My understanding from some of the other threads is that the -900s will also have the increased 41" pitch in F but will retain all 16 seats.

I believe its just loss of pitch in Y to add F

I know this is an old thread, but it is all I can find... I am seeing 12 FC seats on 737-900 rather than 16. Is this still the case that they only show 12 in case there is a swap to a -800?

If the seating chart is showing 12FC seats for your specific flight then the Aircraft has been updated to the new format. Updates on the 737-900's are still ongoing so some will be 16FC & some will be 12FC. Once completed, all 737-900's will have 12FC and consistent within the 737 fleet.

Cheers ☺

No, all upgraded 739s will/do have 16F, not 12F.

You would be correct. If it's only showing 12F seats, then the -900 is only put there as a placeholder until AS decides whether bookings warrant a 800 or 900.
