MP miles expiring in a month

How long does it take for the activity to post from Mileage Plan Shopping network? Miles are expiring in a month (24th Oct I believe) and there are about a 1000 ways to go about it. Ideally, I'd like to buy a song off iTunes network or order something from there. However, if it takes 1-2 statement cycles then it might not be the best way to go about it.

The cheapest thing I can think is donating a 1000 miles or buying 1000 miles for instant activity.

23 months of 0 activity is cutting it close. I'd probably buy a 1000 if I were in your shoes. How many miles are at risk ?

Dining in a MileagePlan Dining restaurant with a registered credit card should post to MileagePlan Dining by early next week and hopefully to Alaska by later tthis coming week, but no later than another week after that. Just make sure the restaurant gives miles on the date you're dining (and preferably that it gives miles the next day too, in case they post your payment in a way that credits it has having been done the next day).

Btw, at some establishments a "dine" can be as little a cup of coffee or such. So don't think it has to be a lavish meal that costs a bunch.

Yes, I was considering it. 25,000 miles at risk.

I considered that too. But I have exactly 30 days from today. I guess, I could try this and see how it goes in a week or two. Would purchasing 1000 miles hit my account instantly or would take a while as well? I could use this as a last resort.

Mile purchase is pretty much instant. See also these threads for some ideas:
