Since they diverted to MSP, that means they were probably only 2 hours into the flight. That's a bit early for the credit card solicitation. So there had to be some other reason he wanted to make a run for it.

F&C plate _just_ sold out?

The track on Flight Aware looks like they were almost to the MN/SD border before hooking around to land at MSP.

I'm know I'm stretching the topic a bit, but since the flight did go JFK-MSP-SEA, I wonder if AS would ever consider adding a mid-west stop on some of their transcons to pick up folks in places that couldn't support a stand alone flight...maybe an extra PHL-SEA flight that makes a quick stop in a place like DSM? CVG? PIT?

My guess is they served polenta in F and the person just couldn't take it anymore.

I have been on AS7 many times.

If I witnessed that, I would immediately try to enlist my seat mate to try to severely injure the passenger doing this so that they stop.

Right.

Just like the door will magically pop open, sucking everyone and every thing out into the wild blue yonder above South Dakota.

I hate it when that happens

Most likely the diversion was based on diruptive behaviour because the attempted door opening onto itself had nothing to do with safety of flight.

Does seem like a well reported injury or two might slow down some of these fools. Or at least make for a good viral video.
