The Chocolate Bar Thread™

Onboard a full SEA-ANC flight night now and requested a chocolate for both in my party Gold or higher. Was told "there's 29 of you today and only 12 bars."

so this might be a reason it's not always offered proactively...

You'd figure they would have more chocolate bars on the more elite heavy routes (ex. ANC, EWR, SFO, etc.).

12 are provisioned on any flight that offers a full beverage service. Usually, although there may be significantly more Golds than chocolate bars, a number of folks take drinks rather than a chocolate so it's not often an issue.

Wow, I would have thought those were long gone....I haven't seen them given out in ages...I suppose it's because you typically have to ask for them now and most folks probably don't even know to ask. I can't imagine they would ever run out especially if they save the 12 that weren't given out on the previous flight

the chocolates go back to the kitchen if unused. They aren't kept on the airplane if unused.

It depends. Anytime the flight is being catered, leftover chocolates should be sent back. If the flight is double catered they may have whatever leftover chocolates available.

That's what I figured- just was the first time I'd heard this. Thanks for confirming. ^

They had these amazing margarita chocolates a while back. Can't seem to find them anywhere but I really liked them.

I think those are one of the flavors of the small twist-tie ones you'd get on your lunch/dinner plate.

I've had good luck asking for the bigger bars on the little QX flights, if they have them they'll give them to you, but you have to ask. Lately the ONLY flavor we've been getting have been the light blue wrapper, I think they are milk chocolate with sea salt caramel. Haven't seen the dark in ages.

Seattle Chocolates has a small store in Terminal C, prices are high but I think they carry most flavors.

Hope not. I always enjoy my Q400 flights with a free glass of wine and subbing my MVPG drink for chocolate. Best of both worlds.

Denied on EUG-SEA this morning. FA said they're only available on flights where there's cocktails served. Beer & wine along with standard QX beverage service this morning. Nice to have coffee instead of the usual seat belts the whole way for "expected" turbulence.

ETA: asked on PDX-SEA-- only loaded for the longer flights.
