Tempted to buy but........

AS has an up to 35% bonus on miles purchased between now and 8/7. The sales are usually a bit later, don't end so quickly and are for up to 40% bonus. Any thoughts about a sale a bit later with the larger bonus? I need to top up to take the gs on a mega trip in F . Thanx!

if you want to buy, say, 50000 miles you are looking at a difference of 2500 miles in the bonus ... the question you need to answer to your own satisfaction by 8/7 is whether 2500 fewer miles in hand now outweighs the chance that AS may not offer a 40% bonus sale later in the year

Looks like AS cardholders get 40% bonus? Just got an e-mail about it.

I got 50% bonus, and the page says it's because I'm cardholder, so I guess it's targeted.

50% for me as well. But you have to buy 35,000 to 40,000 miles for that level of bonus.

50% for me too as a cardholder and same 35-40k required.

Very tempting this is definitely the highest bonus I've ever seen (usually it seems to bounce between 35 and 40%).

I haven't gotten around to getting an AS card.....must re-think that! But, of course, it's totally correct that it really isn't enough miles to risk waiting. As always, you folks think of the details that eluded me! Now where's that email about getting an AS card? Off to search it out.

Alaska Airlines, Up To 50% Bonus Miles (W/ Visa Signature)

Exclusive to you, as a Visa Signature Cardholder: here’s your chance to rack up miles, fast, and go adventuring sooner. From now until August 9, buy miles and you’ll get up to 50% bonus miles on your purchase. Or, buy miles as a gift for friends and relatives, and your gift will be up to 50% bigger.

10,000 – 19,000 miles 20% bonus miles
Buy 20,000 – 34,000 miles 35% bonus miles
Buy 35,000 – 40,000 miles 50% bonus miles

So if you buy the maximum allowed in one transaction, you’ll receive 60,000 miles for $1,182.50 after taxes. That’s 1.97 cents per mile.

not bad, gets you ~1/3 of the way for EK First to e.g. JNB/DPS, or ~1/2 of the way for CX first, both of which routes are usually around 13k USD...

Looks like were going to have to merge all the threads. There were multiple offers 35%, 45%, 50% and maybe more and maybe less

I also got the 50% bonus email. When purchasking 40K, it gives an additional 4K miles for the $1100+ purchase price. Nice if you wanted to buy AS miles anyway, but for me it's not a dealmaker.

...and if you routinely pay that much, it's a heck of a bargain. Otherwise, those $13K tickets are only worth as much as one would be willing to pay for them.

I'm a little pissed, I'm a recent recipient of the AS Canadian Mastercard, my email appears to have not been targetted max bonus I can get seems to be 35% if the email is right.

Here's a question though, if I pay with my AS card, I'll get 1:1 miles:dollar but would i get whatever the bonus is for buying on Alaska.com? or is it truly only on airfare?

Miles are purchased from points.com, so no bonuses above 1/$1.
