2015 MVP: Bye Delta? Miles now based on fare class.

Email just received:

Delta Changes Ahead
There will be some changes beginning January 1, 2015 to how you earn Mileage Plan miles with Delta. In this new arrangement your miles will be earned based on fare class, rather than distance flown.
Link in the email was broken:

http://blog.alaskaair.com/2014/11/26...e-plan-changes

But partner accrual page is updated:

http://www.alaskaair.com/content/mil...ers/delta.aspx

For Flights Taken on or After January 1, 2015:

Economy Cabin:
Earn 25% actual flight miles* flown in E class of service;
Earn 50% actual flight miles* flown in L, U, T, X, V class of service;
Earn 75% actual flight miles* flown in H, Q, K class of service;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in B, M, S class of service;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in Y class of service, plus 25% Bonus Miles

Business Elite (Business Class) Cabin:
Earn actual flight miles* flown in Z class of service, plus 25% Bonus Miles;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in D, I class of service, plus 50% Bonus Miles;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in J, C class of service, plus 75% Bonus Miles;
First Class Cabin:
Earn actual flight miles* flown in G class of service, plus 25% Bonus Miles;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in A class of service, plus 75% Bonus Miles;
Earn actual flight miles* flown in F, P class of service, plus 100% Bonus Miles;
As expected, Alaska won't be the haven for people still flying Delta and wanting to keep all their miles.

Just saw this too, but the links are not working so no details at this time it looks like on what the specifics look like...

It actually appears that they took down the blog post, so maybe it was posted prematurely and needs to be updated.

I'm glad to know the rumor I heard and have been spreading is true. Maybe they will publish them before the special mini RTW fare is still available.

Might be time for me to seriously figure out how to replace my use of Delta with American...

Thankfully, I only use DL for short-hauls, so it won't be a huge issue for me. I was hoping for finally getting US as a partner, as part of the AA merger. Looks like that is never going to happen.

Was just thinking the same thing.

I have to use Concur to schedule business travel. Anyone know how to force a higher fare code?

This might be really bad for people who earn a lot of miles (myself included) flying internationally on DL .

Same, just worded differently.

Thanks to the person that started the wiki.

MVP75K 125% bonus is huge, that's something that Diamonds used to get, and that's a tier at 125K.
