Alaska to start San Diego - Boston / San Diego - Lihue service in 2013
Alaska Airlines in 2013 is launching San Diego - Boston and San Diego - Lihue service, each operates on daily basis.
Reservation should be open as early as Thursday 15NOV12, pending on when the airline will announce it, but flight information for these new flights are now sitting in the GDS.
For those using KVS tool, here it is.....
Ironically, I have flown SAN-BOS on AS twice...connecting in PDX and SEA respectively. Although I probably won't utilize this flight, it's certainly a nice addition.
I also find it interesting that QX flies SJC-LAX but not SJC-SAN. Wonder if SJC-SAN might be added in the future?
Glad to see AS expanding in SAN--just wish they had done it 5 years earlier! Lotta BIS miles on Southwest in the interim...
What does the "NO LOCAL TRAFFIC" line in each flight mean? Does that mean that these can only be sold as a through, BOS-LIH flight? That seems completely nonsensical.

The remark will be removed once reservation is open.

I doubt they'd open up a station again for a single IAD flight. I do wonder what kind of QX feed that they are thinking of for SAN, if any.
They currently have Santa Rosa, Monterey and Fresno from SAN on QX. I have to believe that they are looking at some other additions via QX. Only time will tell...

Oh, that's not good. They didn't get it. Oh well!
AS has already 3 transcons flight from SAN-MCO/DCA or IAD and now this. Maybe AS will have reconsider SAN-DCA again, if necessary. If they gets more slots. What's next? Maybe FLL, ATL, EWR or someplace else.
