I have an upcoming flight in mid Jan from PHX LGA. We are going for 3 days and the FL schedule change has taken a good chunk out of that. I lose 6 hours on the way there and 10 hours on the way back! What options do I have? Do you think they will let me cancel and use it for a different destination? Will they reaccomodate me on another airline? Looking at the schedule they only have 1 flight a day now. It is a non-refundable ticket, etc...
Thanks!
Edited to add: Is it better to write a letter or call?

If you haven't already accepted the changes, you can change to another flight or get a refund. I would say that reaccomdation on another airline is out of the question on AirTran. I had booked a flight for Thanksgiving that got moved by only an hour. I called and asked for a refund, got a full refund, and booked a cheaper flight on AirTran minutes later.
Maybe JetBlue has some nonstops out of JFK during that timeframe that might better suit you.
One more thing that I forgot to mention. The ticket to me was technically a free ticket. It was a promotion through T-mobile and I paid the taxes and fees. The ticket has a value of like $340 but a refund would not go back to me, but the credit card from the travel agency

Hi Simba,
I think your best bet is to not accept the changes online and call them. I have successfully changed flights with Airtran after a schedule change, even before I made elite status.
Can you leave a day earlier, or come back a day later? They have allowed me to make a day change when a rescheduled flight had moved by a couple of hours. One of my upcoming flights this month was booked as as award with 8 credits; not long after booking the schedule changed, arriving about 2.5 hours later. This messed up my plans for that day, so I called and was able to get them to change my booking (at no charge) to the prior evening - even though an award flight on the earlier day would have cost me 16 credits!
If EWR (or even HPN) are viable alternatives to LGA, offer these options to the agent when you call.
My understanding is that, if no rescheduling can meet your needs, they will refund your ticket price (or can they just give you a credit toward a future flight?) - but I've never tried to do that.
I also have found them very accommodating with changing flights when they have a schedule change that affects you, call them and update us and what happens!
Thanks for the replies. I called FL and they offered to refund (which does not help me) or to allow me to cancel and use the value for a year. I can also reschedule to different flights. The problem is we were trying to fit a tight trip into an even tighter time period. With one flight a day (PHX ATL LGA) it does make it difficult for me. I still have up until one hour before the flight to decide what to do. Overall I feel that FL has been accomodating, just wish they had a better schedule
