Southwest bidding on ATA's LGA slots (now used by AirTran?)

Southwest has made a bid to lease 14 slots (7 round trip flights per day) at LGA from bankrupt ATA - article here:

My understanding is that these slots are currently in use by AirTran - can anyone confirm? If so, does anyone have any thoughts/facts/speculation ( as if I have to ask for that here!) as to how this will affect AirTran?

Note: In case the above is not clear, ATA American Trans Air (TZ - now bankrupt) never had any affiliation with AirTran (FL); they just happened to have similar names.
