This has been my gripe, while I love leaving on time Airtran boards EXTRA early! Can they spend a little more time on the cleanliness of the plane?

You can have both. Just have the FAs do an extra round on flights that are slightly delayed and use a "friendly" tone that will encourage more passengers to clean their seat pockets.
