Southwest is moving in the opposite direction, much to the dismay of FTers and other customers.

Back on topic, I'd like to thank everyone who posted for participating in this discussion. I have pointed the other TalkBoard members to it, and we are very happy that there's a consensus here.

Thanks for posting Southwest information in the Airtran forum, Mr. Moderator. We really appreciate it. I can't believe you just did that. And a moderator no less.

No one ever said this was a merger. This was an aquisition from the getgo. Not sure where you are getting this merger idea.

There have been lots of posts that refer to it as a merger. I am not the only one to restate this. Hope it never merges.

I was under the impression that they were technically supposed to do this as alcohol served on board is to be consumed on board in the same manner as alcohol served at a bar is to be consumed there and can't be taken to go (in most of America anyway, I know some places do allow this like Las Vegas and New Orleans). Just as a beer is supposed to be served with the cap already removed isn't in flight alcohol supposed to be served with the cap removed?

This thread is way off topic in many ways. It is obvious that the two boards should not merge since there are 2 different airlines. Done. End of story. Nothing to see here. Time to unsubscribe.

I think that we should dedicate a new thread to this issue. Ms. henryf and myself have a personal interest in seeing how this develops.

Off topic but I noticed the change of MKE-SEA. It went from 2x per day on FL both PM with high loads to one per day 12:30pm only enabling morning connections from the few flights they run. I'd be surprised if that route survives.

Redeyes work West to East.. And with the FL purchase they've expanded East in a big way. I can only hope SWPA approves something allowing it. Those incoming FL pilots being several notches down in seniority are afterall used to redeyes.

The problem is not the unions, in fact the crews can do red-eyes today. The problems lay in technology.

Thanks for that! So I assume their reservation or crew and aircraft tracking systems currently can't for some reason can't allow or follow start-end on different days?
