Annual ratings from Wichita State University and Purdue...

Ratings: FL #1, WN #7

AirTran has way too small a route structure at LaGuardia airport even if you count the combined footprint with Southwest.

Virgin America was not included in the survey apparently but it too has a very small route network although would likely get high marks in surveys.

The best airlines for me in NYC Metro would be JetBlue and Delta, with Delta having the larger route network overall and an airline alliance partner.
