AirTran/WN sale: $35/$65/$95/$125
Hi all,
AirTran and Southwest just started a fare sale:
$35 for flights of 0-450 miles
$65 for 451-1000 miles
$95 for 1001-1500 miles
$125 for 1501+ miles
Dates: 11/20-12/14 2011 and 1/4-2/15 2012
Southwest's TOC says not available on Sundays; AirTran states no such restriction but I saw no sale fares on Sundays in the few dates I looked.
Sale ends October 20th 11:59 Eastern time

Southwest has ruined the sale
Just last week, I was pricing Baltimore-ATL route and I was able to get 56 plus tax on the segment with two weeks notice. I thought I could wait till thiswe ek and book that segment because it is for a younger cousin of mine and I wanted to get her details. Now, with this typical WN sale, the price is 93 plus tax because these sales are only valid from Nov 30 which is 6 weeks out. I guess we have to book our tickets like once in a year leisure travelers.
It also messes with the advice I gave my sis. She was prepared to book on Airtran from either Balt or Phil for the week before Thanksgiving. Now fares are doubled because once again this sale does not apply for anything for the next 6 weeks. Even if my sis wants to leave PHL a whole week before Thaknsgiving and is willing to return Sat instead of Sun after THanksgiving, she is going to have to shell out MORE THAN 300 bucks.
Damn WN.
Just like we predicted. WN's sales are only for those who have the luxury of planning a month or more in advance. The days of waiting for each Tuesday to book my next flight coming up in a couple of weeks are over.

Just tried to check flights, but their flight schedule only goes out until August 2010. Yes 2010.
ETA: This was on Airtran's home page; I was able to see dates into the future by clicking on the "Reservations" tab.
