still nothing on their website! a little strange that they have not been advertising the launch! They had a recruitment adverts a few months ago in the heathrow staff newsletter, Skyport, and the freebie newspaper on the london underground, The Metro, but nothing else at all. not even a whisper!

I know a few people have left Jet airways in LHR to start with Kingfisher!

now for some good news for the US routes as a little of bit of inside knowledge from my girlfriend, I do know that the first set of girls to get the American C1/2 Crew visas have appointments with the American Embassy/Consulate on the 29th August!

I still don't see their booking site showing London as a destination. Have they started selling tickets for London or is it a proof of concept flight? The inaugural flight will probably have quite a few nonrevs, press, high profile VIPs. But at some oint they have to sell tickets for money.

They aren't even displaying in the GDS yet, but apparently this news is correct, according to several sources! I'm told the A330 will have twelve cabin crew on board - six to look after thirty "Kingfisher First" passengers, and another six to look after economy class passengers, who will enjoy business class catering, served course by course. I am further told the interior design of the aircraft is fantastic.

If anyone needs to go to BLR in early September, I'd consider a flight on Kingfisher - once they load up their fares - no doubt a few planes will go up quite empty!

Looks like they updated the website to advertise the international service.

http://www.flykingfisher.com/international/index.html

Bookings seem to be happening through the same old booking page and I cannot find LHR in the list of destinations yet.

IT1 blr-lhr 0840 1450 operated by Deccan, Trading as Kingfisher

Economy for $6000 is low?

LOL...as wonderful as everyone says the Kingfisher is, their website is annoying. Too many flash animations and that schedule page is probably still the same one they've had since they started operations.

It looks like IT's SFO adventure will be put on hold. 9W is reportedly struggling on the BOM-PVG-SFO route. They had to cut back to 5 times a week from daily service.

It does not appear SFO has enough daily traffic to support either from BOM or BLR, because of inadequate connection traffic.

SFO has plenty of traffic - the problem lies with the marketing and pricing. 9W's marketing effort (in the US) for their SFO flight was pretty poor, IMO. Also they totally failed to capitalize on their 'direct flight' advantage as opposed to long transit times and circuitous routings of their competitors (e.g. SQ).

Finally, the pricing mix was wrong. Their fuel surcharges are excessive (compared to other carriers such as CX) and there were no attractive lead-in fares.

Although they have a competent ex-SQ man running the show in the US, perhaps their appetite to fight SQ was wanting!

What happened to all the claims that there was enough traffic between BLR and SFO to not only support another flight connecting the two cities, but that a nonstop flight at that at premium fares.
Did some people who flew the route assume that every one else did too?

9W marketing was admittedly weak but they have been offering the lowest fare (including taxes/surcharges) by far from SFO since the flight started in June. Even the website fares have been very attractive if you dont want to buy through an agent.

Their fuel surcharge is no worse than any other airline now (after latest CX increase). Moreover, Jet does not charge fuel surcharge for domestic sectors when connecting from BOM which is a significant saving.

SFO-India (esp. BOM and DEL) does seem to have enough capacity esp. on weekdays. There are ample one-stop choices with less than 24 hours travel time through both Atlantic and Pacific.
