ULH service isn't profitable with 777 either

I am completely unconvinced that a DAILY A345 service BLR-SFO -- despite repeated assertions of the 'connecting Silicon Valleys theory' -- is even remotely close to breakeven at $140 oil.
You know what, None of this matters. It doesnt even matter if Kingfisher does not make a single penny because as long as Mallya's Kingfisher beer is super successful and makes buckets loads of money, he can go on subsidising his airline which is just a big toy train set to him, nothing else. Kingfisher airlines is just an extension of his ego!

I tell you something, last month the entire crews uniform shirt/blouse was changed to show more cleavage!!! The shirts look exactly the same (the normal flying passenger would not even notice) but the top button is lower down. If money was such a big issue right now then why would he be doing stuff like changing uniforms shirts, its not like they have had the uniform for ten years.

I know this because my girlfriend is crew and shes always telling me of silly little things Kingfisher make them do!

Why is HYD-ORD lucrative?

Well ORD-DEL has been highly profitable for AA. HYD-ORD will connect the Medwest with South India. There a lot of south Indians in the Midwest esp college students(from india) attending UIUC,UIC, Purdue, UofM, etc.

ORD is the one of the busiest in the nation and it has great connectivity to the rest of the nation.

South Indians live every where in the U.S. and not only South Indians live in the Midwest.
HYD-ORD is as good as an argument as connecting any up coming, not not major metropolitan, Indian city with a major U.S. hub. It does not explain why only HYD-ORD.

ORD has great connectivity on airlines that have a hub in ORD.

Changing uniforms costs maybe in the '00,000's, running a ULH with a 346 will run losses in the '000,000's. TG mentioned that they would have needed 120% load factor to just break even on BKK-JFK, now SFO-BLR will have more F/C travelers, but not enought to make this break even.

By the way, are they really going to start SFO-BLR end of August? I have not been able to even see schedules anywhere in the media (except from someone at flyertalk) - also anybody know of connections into PNQ after landing at 5PM?
I am trying to book a trip from SFO-PNQ for my wife and son - to basically try and void the 3 hour driving nightmare from BOM-Pune!
Thanks!!

I would consider 4 hours to be on the safe side, if driving...

LH flies FRA-PNQ but in an all business-class config on an A319, so I don't know if that's an option for you (LH SFO-FRA-PNQ)?

If it's a valid routing, most definitely!

I have held confirmed reservations on award ticket using US Air miles(unfortunately didn't travel )on this route and hence believe routing to be valid.

I am looking forward to seeing Kingfisher at SFO, when can we "realistically" see Kingfisher starting services?

If not chicago, I hope they start services from JFK also not just SFO. Perhaps eventually non stop JFK-HYD.

I am a bit disappointed they might be joining Skyteam, wish they'd join Star Alliance.

I'd be thrilled if they join Skyteam( I am rooting for Gold on DL this year and for the first time:-) - just hope they have convenient connections to major cities for connecting with the SFO-BLR flight - especially PNQ
Oh and let's not hold our breaths on this one - I will believe it when I see an IT A340 parked at SFO..
