Air India: LHR-DEL-BLR

With Air India now using their new 777 aircraft (at least according to them) on the LHR-DEL route and their prices so cheap, I'm wondering if anybody has any recent experience with them?

I'm getting very good prices in Business Class.

How is the chance of an equipment change and ending up with an old aircraft?

How is the new business class?

I appreciate any advise.

I flew the 77W in Y a couple months ago (LHR-BOM). The seats were very thinly cushioned and generally uncomfortable. IFE was on the better end, though. Planes were still looking new and clean.

Avoid AI as far as possible, would be my advice.

Thank you Mr Bean.

Thank you aniruddh, I see you also seam to fly with Kingfisher, which is only 300£ more expensive.

Do you have any recent experience in Kingfisher First with a connecting flight via BOM? I saw one or two trip reports but am not sure if it's good for connecting.

Again thanks for your input.

KF is great, period. Have you tried 9w's product on J, on the LHR-BOM/DEL sector - great product, but they don't have Dom in J anymore, I think :-( ? I don't have connection-type experiences on KF, but KF First per se is absolutely superb.

Though I have not done these routes on KF, their service is really outstanding. Try them while they are still around!!

Another vote for KF,

Buy a cheap Y seat, then use optiontown to possibly upgrade, if your upgrade does not come through, then upgrade your ticket at the airport to J class by paying the fare difference (you were going to do it anyway).

Which just raises the possible quality of your flight by an enormous %, over AI... ;-)

i'm a huge fan of jet....i think their service & comfort level in business class is far superior to an other airline i have traveled on....i've flown kingfisher on the mum - lhr route & while their business (or kingfisher first) class was great, i would rate jet higher....

Not sure which one I'd rate higher on the LHR route...KF's product is simply superb, though I must admit I often find myself looking for reasons to continue with Jet's wonderful Business and First class. At least they treat me quite well, since I'm quite frequent on that route...the last time, the Business class cabin in-charge actually kept a couple of extra Belgian Choc Chip ice creams stashed away just for me ;-)

Well I took Kingfisher and just completed the outbound leg and found it very good for a business class product.

The transfer assistance in BOM was great (once she managed to find me as somehow she missed me at the aircraft).

I'm going to write a trip report once I'm back to Dublin.
