$59 for a bassinet seat?
Recently found out - to my negative surprise - that (non-Topbonus) Oneworld Emerald elites cannot select seats for free in advance (apart from the middle section; 3-3-3).
Now my wife (no status) will also fly Air Berlin soon (different flight than mine) with our baby from the US to Germany. She has just been told that it costs $59 to get a bassinet seat. Wowwwwwww. This is a new low.
Surprised that there is not a consumer protection law in Germany that makes this illegal or something.
Thought this may be useful for other members.

That's strange. I've flown AB with our two small kids on various occasions over the last years, and as long as they were under 2 years old, seat reservations were always free, regardless of booking class or status.
FWIW, those were intra-European flights, so maybe they have a different policy for US flights.
