How do I understand the qualification periods on topbonus?

How do I understand the qualification periods on topbonus?
My account page says:
Do I correctly understand that to maintain Gold (my current status) I need to collect 33.662 miles until Sep 30? (my status seems to be valid a month longer)
Also, why there is a different period for upgrade? (I guess this applies if I wanted to upgrade to Platinum, right?)
To maintain your status (09/01/14 - 09/30/15):
Status miles collected: 16.338
Status miles to be collected: 33.662
Your Status Upgrade (01-02-2014 - 28-02-2015):
Status miles collected: 34.538
Status miles to be collected: 65.462
Status miles collected: 16.338

Yes you understood correctly!
In my understanding the different period is because the status upgrade offer is based on a 12 months period finishing with the current month, whereas status validity is for a full year since you qualified.

I think that is a rolling status bar for the upgraded level. Next month, it should read: 01-03-2014 to 31-03-2015 (with different totals if you flew in February 2014; as those will be taken out of the new totals).
