Checked Baggage Allowance for *G in Business on NZ?

im off to nz on boxing day flying air nz via hong kong
i am going to visit my aunt and she has asked me to fetch her lots and lots of things. now!
when i was packing today i can't for the life of me get all the presents and my clothes in 2 bags so this is what i have done is this allowed
i have a suitcase and 2 holdalls one smaler than the last .
i am BD gold so i have extra baggage allowance i think this is 50kg?????
on air nz it states 2 pieces of checked luggage and then down the bottom it mentions this can be overlooked???
MY QUESTION
will this amount of luggage be allowed for one person?? will they let me chech 3 bags in??
i wont be over the weight allowance.
comming home i will get everything i need into 1 case so i will be leaving the holdalls in nz.
thanks in advance
debbie

If your allowance is calculated by the weight system (which applies on your intinerary) then the number of bags is irrelevant (max per bag 32 kg) so you will be fine

A request: please try to make your thread titles more descriptive (something which might give a clue as to what the thread is about)

If flying economy or premium economy you have 40kg, if flying business you have 50kg. No limit on number of checked bags but there is a maximum weight per bag (I thought this was now 23kg, but as I don't check bags I don't pay close attention and may be mistaken).

Number of bags applies to tickets that include North America.

Note if you have connecting flights on other airlines they may have more restrictive allowances.

That is not correct. *G gives extra checked baggage allowance of 20kgs on the weight system or 1 piece on the piece system. The piece system applies on itineraries that include North America. The weight system applies otherwise.

I wish the airlines would be more descriptive regarding their baggage allowances.

How the infrequent traveller can understand some of them is beyond me.........I have a problem figuring them out sometimes especially on a multi itinerary/airline trip.

hey Kiwi Flyer, yea thats kind of what i meant. Weight or piece, you get that additional allowance. I think i confused myself by saying piece , but yes, via HKG, definitely weight system. Thanks Kiwi Flyer
