ATR Cabin Baggage Question

Hi,

Am I correct in assuming that one is allowed the standard 118cm/7kg cabin bag on ATR flights, but it will be loaded in the hold if it won't fit in the cabin? Is it taken at the aircraft steps? Returned on arrival at the aircraft steps or on the baggage belt?

Thanks!

Yes you are allowed 7kg.
However I do not know if the baggages sizers are reduced as the ATR has smaller overhead bins than an A320/737 and the under seat area is compromised by the location of the seat legs.
I do not know if they take the bag at the steps of the aircraft ladder, I have seen loaders tell passengers they cannot put bags on the "Fast Bag" trolley if they do not have the appropriate tag. The FA at the door may take the larger bag from you if they feel you may not be able to put the bag in the OH lockers, which I have seen happen on the occasion but not enough to say that is standard procedure.
