Sorry for digging up this thread.
I'm looking at flying AKL-HKG and since I need to connect to Europe I'll probably take CX metal.
As TK*G I won't have lounge access (regardless whether I book CX or NZ flight number), but would a lounge pass (my father in law has plenty and can't seem to find a way of using them) grant me access?
Also, what would the situation at HKG be?
Thank you!

Nevertheless, I don't believe you will have any access by virtue of status, and the passes be also be invalid (I assume, but do not know this). To make things worse, even if they were valid, without your father in law present, the passes won't be transferable to you. I sound like the grim reaper!

I highly doubt you will get access for your situation. There is Emperor lounge for paid access as an alternative. Be careful which as there are 3 lounges to go to. Showers you will have to book in advance.

Thank you for your replies. I'll try to minimise my time at the airport, it's no big deal. I'd book on NZ metal but the flight times are just not convenient to connect on LX/LH in HKG.
Since I'll have separate tickets (no luggage) I'd rather build in some tolerance.
