Newbie question re transiting through Auckland

First timer connecting from YVR to OOL. Is OOL considered international and no need to change the terminal? Need to clear immigration/customs or can go directly to departure gate? NZ lounge there? Big thanks!

OOL is an Intentional flight from Auckland, if on an single ticket you will not need to clear customs.

Although you will need to re-clear security in Auckland, so do not buy at liquid at duty free as you have them take off you on transit in Auckland.

Thank you! Is duty free alc. permitted through transfer security checkpoint if purchased on inbound NZ flight and sealed in the bag? It is a practice in some countries, I guess not in NZ? Also, any duty free shops after transit security? Finally, is there NZ lounge there?

Is that really true? On an international to international connection at AKL you can't take liquids through? I thought that on a pure international transit you were OK, provided that transfer wasn't heading to a US port?

It's been such a long time since I've tried to do that; I guess I just assumed you still could...

You can't take liquids on an INT to INT connection in Australia either. For example, EK407 AKL-MEL-DXB. Everyone is herded off the plane, you and your carry-ons are all scanned, then you wait to reboard. Maybe you could leave your duty-free on the plane, but I wouldn't count on it still being there when you return to your seat.

This changed in Australia a year or so ago - as long as the duty free liquids are in one of those sealed 'tamper evident' bags they can be taken through security with Int-Int transfers at major Australian airports.

I think the same now applies at NZ for int-int transfers, but don't quote me on it (as it's not something I've ever done).

Thank you! I was really not sure. Some home airports have "sterile" transit zones and you get literally escorted straight to the plane: no frills, lounges or duty free there. Trust me: been there and seen that
I have changed my plans anyway. And for better! Just got PE tickets on NZ from Vancouver and will spend with my wife two days in Auckland before flying to OOL to visit our daughter at the university!
Again, big thank you to ALL of you! You guys rock!
GO BLACK, GO!^
