new premium economy

Hi guys
I am interested in NZ4 AKL-LAX on 11th April. This flight is showing as a 772, how do I establish if this is a refitted 772 or an old one? Reason for asking is I'm keen on the the new style premium economy seats.

Apologies if this has been posted already - if so please a link to how can establish this would be great.

New style "Business-Lite" PE seats are configured 2-4-2 (8 abreast) on the 77E (refit), while existing 772s are 3-3-3 (9 abreast).

It's as simple as doing a dummy booking on Air NZ's site, choosing PE and see which seat map loads.

FYI: you will most likely end up with the existing (old) PE seats, as the new refit 77Es are prioritized for the Singapore and Hong Kong routes, followed by Vancouver, until more in the fleet are done up.

There might be a chance you might get one due to a reschedule, but not very likely at this stage.

Book one of the other flights with a 773 if your schedule allows

The other way to tell on the ANZ booking site is to look at the grid where you choose your flights (before you get to the seating chart). If Skycouch is available in economy (assuming they haven't sold out the Skycouch rows) and Spaceseat not available in PE, then you know its a refitted 772. If neither Skycouch nor Spaceseat are available, then its an old 772. If both Skycouch and Spaceseat are available, then its a 77W.
