Indeed. The utter non-sense was to have those birds delivered brand new from Boeing with NEV4 seats, 2 years after having started the retrofit of the existing B777 fleet.

Does KLM have a better J product in TATL?

It, like AF, depends on the plane and route.

KLM already flies the 787 on several destinations with a very nice new seat -- I believe nearly identical to AF's newest seat offering.

KLM's 777 have lie-flat, with fairly nice J product, but no direct aisle access (2-2-2).

Some prefer AF's food. I find both... acceptable. It's airplane food.

AF has better wine.

KLM gives you a small house filled with jenever at the end of the flight.

Looks like AF82/85 (CDG-SFO) for this summer are being operated on 777-200 "quick change" equipment this year. Nice alternative to the AF83/84 A380-operated flights that are stuck with the old seats.

My first trip with the BEST seat . Frankly I found the NEV4 to be more comfortable for an 11 hour trip.

The BEST seems to have very little padding, no more than economy, and the cubbyhole for your legs is kind of confining. Just could not get too comfortable like I could in the older seats.
I also don't understand controls. The one closest to the seatback raises it to seating position while the middle button to some level of horizontal. Not sure what the third button is supposed to do, since all it does is shift the seat back and forth when not fully horizontal. There is no way to control the back and leg portions of the seat separately.

Anyway want to see if anyone else shares my opinion, and could explain what that third button is supposed to do.

The 3rd button is used to get closer the tray table if you need to.
Otherwise, I don't share your opinion that NEV4 is better than the BEST seat which is better for many aspect (comfort, space, privacy, aisle access, storage compartment, IFE, etc). But I never had any comfort problem with the NEV4 seat. I just think the BEST one is better.

I would take it even further than Goldorak and claim that this is the first negative post about BEST that I have seen anywhere. The actual seat can be discussed down to personal taste of course, but the overall experience as Goldorak points out is light years ahead of NEV4/old cabins.

But hey, this is a debate and we can of course disagree

BEST seats afford me much better sleep (good solid 7 hours last night) than NEV4 which makes it a winner. I must say, though, that 14plus hours sat on BEST has left me with a slight backache that NEV4 never gave me. Might be my age if course

Getting a comfortable seating position with BEST takes trial and error as well but, as Goldorak says all the other ambient conditions make it a winner overall.

I've heard other passengers complain about back pain after long flights on BEST seats. Not sure if that's just anecdotal or a real issue. I have no issues myself.

Hi everyone,

I did not make my research so this is entirely my fault but I found out I will be in the configuration where the eco plus seat are before the premium economy section. Should I have bought this seat instead of PE ?
On seat guru it seems that the pitch is better than basic eco seat and I assume they will deplane before PE seat. l also guess they will use the lavatory in front of the PE cabin so overall the benefits of PE seem light compared to this section.

Are my assumptions correct ?

Thanks

I believe you are talking about Seat+ because Eco+ and Premium Eco usually refers to the same product.
If yes, this is the Quick Change" config. The answers to your questions are basically yes to all, but PE comes with additional perks (including SkyPriority) and more miles.

Damn, thanks Goldorak

To bad I did not check it before because for a 4h flight there is no value in this.

BEY indeed the outbout is about 4h . At BEY the boarder controls are so bad that it matters how fast you deplane. I took PE on that purpose
