So after July 30, SFO-CDG flights will have the BEST premium cabin in the AF fleet?
It's lie flat in a 1-2-1 configuration. En excellent seat, arguably out there with the best J seats that currently exist.

SFO probably will have them, but we have seen changes before....

Hope to see the improved product on this route.

It's an A380 route by now. You need to be lucky. I believe the A380 cabin enhancement campaign has only started recently.

I don't remember AF having NEV upstairs on its 744. You must be confusing airlines.

And the A380 retrofit will not start until 2018.

But wco81 is not talking about NEV seats upper deck 744, but Business class seat. At the time of Espace 127 (and likely before), AF indeed had a part of J class on the upper deck of the 744.

I did not realize we were talking about a decade ago

As wco81 mentions 747 not 744, I remember flying AF F on the UD. I think a 742.

Hello,
I am new to this forum, so I am sorry if my question has already been answered too often. I am flying to OSAKA (KIX) this summer and the cabinplan of my flight looks nothing like the ones I am used to. I couldnt find much information about this cabinplan. I checked websites like seatguru, but I couldnt find it.
I attached a picture of the cabinplan. I was wondering which seats are the best or if there are some recommendations. I used some of my Miles to get one of the seats in front. Now I can choose all of the yellow seats but I cant decide which one is good for a quiet time and maybe a bit of extra legroom.
Thanks in advance.

I know this is a "bit" off topic, but does anyone know the reasoning/historical reasons for making the Upper Deck on the Air France 744 all economy class (Seat Plus)? Just always seemed very strange to me. Most airlines seems to allocate some portion of premium class upstairs on their 747-400s.

I did my final Air France 744 flight last summer, CDG-BOS in business class (with my dog... unfortunately, but it was the "yearly" summer trip...)... Luckily, the dog slept most of the flight. Was happy to get one final chance to ride an Air France 747.

I think you don't find it because this set-up is only used in high season in which they replace some J seats (Biz) with Y ones (Eco), your row 7 is normally for J but during high season they put eco seats instead.

I have never travelled in such cabin set-up but your choice seems good and you are really in the front of the plane if that matters for you, what i don't know however is if they place a wall in front of you to separate J from Y and how much it would affect the pitch . Seats 24C and 24J seem good too as you don't have anyone in front of you.

With the usual disclaimer that FAs will bump into you with their trollies etc.

The front of the plane for Y is row 7, and these are very good seats. And yes, they install a partition between the J and the Y cabin during quickchange.
A big warning on row 24. The row in front (23) is the row with crying babies.

Thank you all for your information. I think I will stay in row 7 because it seems like there won't be crying babies around me and also I prefer to be in front of the plane.
For economy travellers this cabin configuration seems really nice. But premium economy travellers are stuck between economy cabins.

Was it even before espace 127 that part of the UD was smoking and part no smoking ? That was 2 decades ago with red seat and a loose footrest IIRC

I don't know. I started to travel intensively at the time of Espace 127/180, and everything was non-smoking. But there were Espace 127 J seats upstairs at one point. For the smoking sections, I only remember my Air Inter flights ORY-NCE-NCE.
