Very disappointing indeed! I am glad I booked myself on AF8 for early January, though there might be a last minute change of aircraft (I have not been able to access the seat map for a few days….). When I was booking my flights I suspicious that the new cabins were not loaded for the announced dates; for AF10 the new cabin showed only from late January which is the new announced day.

Goldorak what is your source?

brunos the new F was supposed to be rolled out on these flights with a 4-cabin B773:
CDG-JFK - AF010/011 : From Dec 22th, 2014
CDG-DXB - AF3884/3881 : From Feb 2nd, 2015
CDG-IAH - AF 636/639 : From Feb 9th, 2015

I thought that the new F was supposed to be rolled out to SIN/JKT in September, but no poster seem to have experienced it. As I mentioned above, AF254/259 seems to operate with BEST three times a week, so that probably implies the new F. Until they manage to operate daily, it will do AF no good. I fail to understand the logic of sprinkling BEST here and there rather than first assuring a daily service on the destinations where they offer the new product. The announcement of a new destination served by the new products will have a nice bite but the disappointment will be destructive when you end up with the old product.

Yes that is correct, please see the first post of this thread; I suppose these flights have the new F, but I do not know.

Admins - it would be nice to have a wiki for this thread

The new F (and J) is indeed present on SIN/CGN for a bit more than a month, but not yet every day as they need 2 aircrafts equipped for such a long route.

When you look at late January seat maps of AF010 you see a mix of B772 and B773 - both with the new cabin…
I have not booked my flight yet, but now am more inclined to go with AF06 (A380) as I enjoy the lower noise level.
Oh, ok. I thought only the new configuration had four seats in first.

And I'm particularly mad because my outbound flight to HND, booked during the UK WOW sale, is now showing the old seat map

- AF10/11 JFK : 1st flight on 26/01/2015 (instead of December 2014), with progressive deployment (i.e. will not be available every day at the beginning).
- AF272/273 HND :1st flight on 31/12/2014 (instead of October), with progressive deployment
- AF274/293 HND : 1st flight on 26/10/2014, with progressive deployment
- AF3884/3831 DXB : 1st flight on 09/02/2015 (instead of 02/02), with progressive deployment
- DLA / SSB / BOS / IAH : deployment delayed from feb/march 2015 to summer 2015

Outside my personal disappointment for HND, of course some delays are very minor like DXB (1 week) but it is extremely disappointing to see the 2015 schedule delayed for several months. I'm wondering wether this 2015 delay is due to budget constraints/savings following to the strike. But if it is the reason, that's not where they should look for savings. They should rather accelerate.
Bad bad bad
+1 And by the way, not only have the incompetent idiots changed the configuration, but they can't be arsed to transpose seat assignments. So I had 1L and now am left with no window as those clowns say that 1L is "not available" and no other window seat. Great way to take care of your platinums for life on paid bookings I guess... Maybe they just deserve bankruptcy...

This is truly a nasty way to reward FT and Goldorak and Orbitmic, the most esteemed members of our small community.

I do remember some warnings that there might be technical delays or flight swaps, so this was always a bit of a gamble. Let's hope that we will not be in a situation a la NEV1, where the technical delays reached years.

Well, as you probably remember, you were the one correctly predicting that such delays would be quite likely while others like myself wrongly assumed that the sheer difference in the numbers of seats offered would push AF to be reliable for once in their life. You were very clearly right and I was equally clearly wrong.

That said, while plane substitutions - however frustrating, do occur, I frankly cannot see a case for AF not protecting seat assignments and "ensuring" that people who had pre-assigned windows and happen to be of the highest FB tier are left with middle seats.

But then, what do I know anyway? After all, partner and myself, respectively Plat for life and Gold are flying with AF tomorrow, on a single PNR, and AF's auto-check in still managed to (1) give us separate seats and (2) both aisles while "window" has been the constant and unequivocal preference on both our profiles for about 15 and 10 years respectively and some of us do enjoy seating together when travelling as a pair. Maybe AF just live in their own little parallel universe and I can only hope for them that there are enough passengers also living in parallel universes to guarantee their long term custom and profitability.

I have exactly the same problem as you for the seats reassignments...

You wanted to sit in the same seat? That would be ultimate cost-cutting for AF

Well, for me that would definitely be a real enhancement as long is comes with the new La Premiere privacy paraphernalia (en tout bien tout honneur evidently!) but on the AF NEO seat, it might cost AF quite a bit of money to dislodge us from the said seat when we disembark!

That makes it sound like JFK is back on for year end.

By the way, there's a trip report on new first Jakarta-Singapore in the Trip Reports section.
