You want to make 2 connections just to have flat beds??

I was thinking the same thing. Each connection introduces the chance that you won't make that connection, with follow-on impact to the last flight. And AF's older Business seats aren't bad, and have a hard shell so no one can recline into you (unlike Delta's old recliners). The only drawback is if you were stuck in a middle seat in the 2x3x2 configuration.

Thank you. I'm planning a trip from IAD-MUC using Delta miles. I'd rather fly AF for the single connection but might go with VS and an extra connection for guaranteed flat beds. Next September's schedule for IAD-CDG currently shows some days with just an A380, some days with just a 4 class 77W, and some days with both an A380 and a 772.
Personally, I add one connection to avoid NEV seats on very longhaul.
But there should be several other options that do not force you to an additional connection. Like flying through ATL (or possible through AMS).

I would at least consider it.
I've generally found routings that allow 4-ish hour connections, so my greater concern is cutting into vacation time. I'm glad to hear that take on the old seats; I've read some horrendous things online about them. I'm not concerned about getting middle seats 11 months out. Plus, I'm flying with my father on a trip I'm booking for his birthday, so sitting together in the 2 seats outside shouldn't be too bad.
I think I'm going to go with the AF flights assuming they're available when booking opens up in a few weeks. On this quick overnight flight I'd rather get to the destination sooner, and it sounds like getting some sleep on NEV is possible. I have no hope of finding 2 seats in J on ATL-MUC during Oktoberfest, and IAD-AMS is pretty bare as well. I could route through DTW or MSP or start in RIC or DCA or BWI, but those would all require a second connection as well, so I'd just take the VS flight in that case.
Thanks all!

We are talking Sep 2016, so a lot of things can change in the next year.

For those interested, Flight-Report studied the flying publics response to Air Frances new Best & Beyond cabins.
http://blog.flight-report.com/en/eng...beyond-cabins/
It's worthwhile to note that new Economy & Business seats are showing the best progression compared to previous generation. The new La Premiere seat is also very popular with 9.6/10.
On the other hand, the refurbished Premium Economy seat is only perceived as marginally better.

Does flight AF650 have new business class seats?
I looked up seatguru - it shows 4 class cabin and 61 biz.
I looked up AirFrance site - it shows 14 biz.
I called "AirFrance" - Delta staff - they don't know.
How can I find out?
Thanks

But, answering your question is easy : CUN is served by a 77W in COI config with high density Y cabin and only 14 J seats. And no, those planes don't have the new J seats and will likely never have it. Those aircrafts have the previous version of the J seat (called NEV4 on this forum). It is a very slightly angled seat. It is far from being as nice as the new seat but I always found it comfortable enough for me and always slept well in.
On a satellite note, it's really a shame that the DL agent (representing AF in North America) was not able to give you that kind of basic information. Just another confirmation that they are totally clueless about AF ops.

To show how "random" it could be sometimes for flying the BEST cabin : IAD is supposed to receive the BEST cabin only from January 12 and only on 054/055 rotation. But I just had the pleasure to fly it on AF027 from IAD. It was not a last minute substitution as I knew it would be a BEST aircraft when I booked a week before and saw the 1-2-1 config on the seat map and I was very happy about this

Do I read right that BOS is served by the new J seat until March 2016 (from when we don't know whether the route will continue to be served by new J or revert back to old J)?

Yes, correct. However, the more we move into 2016, the less likely it will be to revert to old J. But this remains always a possibility.

Not a few flights a week. Last summer, BOS had 3 flights/day : 2 on AF, 1 on DL. For the 2 AF flights, one was on a 744 (every day) and the other one was on an A332 (every day and occasionally an A340)
