Why only for 2 days? Are these the busiest days of this summer vacation?

Definitely.

But I agree it would be nice to open this facility on a regular basis.

Amazing ! Several years I am thinking about and waiting for that.

Too bad it is by invitation only though.

I guess because, given the level of the ground services they enjoy at CDG, they are absolutely not impacted by the crowds at the airport.

Because of the ground crew strike scheduled at that time.

As a side note, the strike is expected to take place on Saturday, August 2nd, only.

^ Wish it could be an experiment and is indeed reminiscent of times long goneby when the Invalides was a fully functioning "aerogare" where passengers could fully check in before being taken to Le Bourget for take off!

Ah! I see!

No doubt the unions will not react well to this move to lessen the disruption caused by the strike.

I wonder if the strikers will attempt to prevent/delay the transfer of bags from the city office to the airport?

Loosely translated:

Air France hopes to welcome a few thousands passengers at its 10 check-in counters. If it is successful, this trial will be experimented again on days with a high volume of departures.

Apparently, this doesn't mean that it is by invitation only, just that an e-mail has been sent to eligible passengers (at least those who have provided an e-mail address).

According to http://www.challenges.fr/entreprise/...ans-paris.html, the total number of AF passengers departing from CDG on August 1st and 2nd is around 140K passengers.

One last thing: check-in will be available the day before the flight, without the 30 hour restriction:
