Booked a ticket a couple months back. All segments were available when booking them individually. However when I tried to book a round trip, the segments would not show. I talked to the help desk. They wouldn't budge on the fee. I booked the ticket, paid the fee and have since complained to the BBB.
Aeroplan has refused to budge on it's position.
The agent I was talking to and trying to work with to get the routing (as no 7F flights appear on AE's site) went on a long rant about it being a labour fee since they are doing the booking and that they aren't slaves. Also informed me that the web site isn't supposed to be a complete booking tool just to save a bit of time for some bookings and that it makes complete sense that not everything is bookable online.
Anyway, suffice it to say I ended the conversation fairly quickly at that point..anyway, I'm going to try again later this week and see if I have better luck.
Good for you. What a useless tool of an agent. Why could he possibly care so much...a labour fee, oh my word. Are they working on commission? Or rather, perhaps they are being motivated by the "threat" of job loss. Collect 10 fees per day or we will be cutting staff another 20%...YOU might be next!!
Its time AC gets Aeroplan to come to the table, the "fuel charge" and booking fees are a rip off.
I totally agree. I hope AC realizes that much of the positive effort by the new regime and the increasing goodwill and positive PR that has resulted is being lost or at least tempered by the same-old point-collector abusing policies of AP (I also understand that we are not AP's "customers"). Separate companies or not...people (the public) view them together. So all of AP's baloney directly affects peoples perception of AC.
Case in point, when my in-laws found out about AP's point expiry policy they were livid. They had been saving for their retirement and felt that *AC* really gave them the shaft...since then they have avoided AC whenever possible.
I just booked a reward seat in economy: NGB-PEK(stopover)-SHA(change airport to PVG)-ORD-YYZ and return YYZ-ORD-PEK-NGB with an agent. The individual flight segments by themselves were bookable online, however they could not be booked together online.
The agent refused to waive the booking fee (would the booking fee be eligible to be waived in this case?) and I didn't bother debating since there weren't many reward seats left and it is close to departure.
P.S. I purposely avoided AC on the transpac segments as it would have added another CAD100+ to the total taxes/fees, etc.
