Routes that do not have fuel surcharges (YQ) when operated by carriers that normally charge YQ:
1. USA-Germany-Other country. If only the Germany-other country segment is on LH it does not have YQ. E.g. DFW-FRA-BLR with TATL on UA and FRA-BLR on LH.
2. USA-Canada-Other country. The USA-Canada segment on AC does not have YQ if the Canada-Other country segment is operated by a carrier that does not charge YQ. E.g. DFW-YYZ-ADD.

Just an update for future people. rankourabu, you were correct. After calling AP and raising a stink and even showing them individual segments that had YQ was much less than $900, they were able to confirm with AC ticketing that YQ is calculated from origin to farthest point which is MLE. However for my other booking the original agent manually created the itin and somehow the YQ was based on YYZ to Asia instead of MLE thus a much lesser YQ.
You will.
It is a not-so-secret scam Air Canada has going. They will charge YQ for the entire route, even if some segments are not-scamchargeable, when your TATL/TPAC routings are on AC/LH/etc.
btw, I dont know if its within MPM - but if your destination was SIN, and stopovers LON and MLE - you would only pay $380 in scamcharges.
If you look up YYZ-MLE - the YQ is indeed $900 in biz on a published AC route.
It sometimes works against them, when for example one books YYZ-FRA-HKG, they only charge the govt regulated HKG scamcharge, but most of the time it benefits Air Canada, who keep the money.

As far as mine go...
YVR-YYZ-PIT (Stop)
PIT-YYZ (Stop)
YYZ-YVR
Obviously it's AC, all J (except the Pit DH8 flights) going to a couple Canucks games in Pit and Toronto. Flying the new studio pod overnight and the 787 on the way back (sucks to have to get up so early after drinking the night before!).
$220.74 a bit more than I'd like but it's AC so you kinda know that going in. YQ of $54. Frankly I thought the % would be higher.
2015
YVR-ORD (Stop, but it's only about 10 hours)
ORD-GRU (Destination)
GRU-IAH-YYC-YVR
UA except YYC-YVR. Totally mixed booking, Biz for YVR-ORD and YYC-YVR, First ORD-GRU-IAH, Econ IAH-YYC.
$157.31 pleasantly surprised how cheap it was, no YQ even with 1 AC flight (which I don't actually need, I'll just be turning around in YVR to go YVR-YYC-YMM right after, but I guess I want those segments haha) but this does include a $41 Brazil Embarkation tax. More than Colombia's!

Aeroplal YQ charges for ANA?
Was planning on redeeming Amex points on aeroplan to book ANA flights, assuming there would be no fuel surcharges. Just called Aeroplan to confirm availability and do the transfer, and they said there would be over 700$ fees for fuel/taxes. Can this be right?
