I'm trying to book a flight, and have requested to "Display only upgradable fares." If I put in the code for SWU (8100001) or SSWU 1000004 -- it comes up with the check mark, but states it to be a North America upgrade cert.
So of course, trying to book something international then generates an error message...

I had the same error over Christmas for international flight. It was a non-issue for me, as i used KVS to confirm I availability, then bought ticket without AC website 'display upgradeable fares' option. Once purchased, quickly upgraded through my bookings.
Even without KVS, once you have confirmed the fare/flight you want, why can't you just uncheck and purchase?

I had a similar issue but was not able to upgrade through the website. Had to get into 30 minute queue with the 1-888 #. CSR still doesn't know why one leg of my flight shows no upgradeable seats released into the system - we are currently waitlisted. She suspects that because it is so far out there it hasn't been released (which could be true, yet the flight the very next day we are taking has been upgraded).
There are so many issues with AC's website that I invariably have to call 1-888 to book reservations.
