This really kills my plan.

But I do want to visit my sister/niece in London eventually. I think those 2 flights pay for itself... and I can always head to Penticton after Miami to visit the family. Just seems a bit ridiculous since I will be transfering in Toronto anyways...

What if I just miss the transfer in Toronto? Would there be any harm in that?
Check out CO from YYC to TPA. $234 AI USD

Thanks! Wow that's extremely cheap, but the problem is I don't drive. I know a few other people from Calgary going down, but I don't like to depend on other people :P

OK... So I'm a... what do you call me... a VBIT?

I understand that for the frequent traveller, looking to gain status points, etc. this may not compare to past years pass deals, but is it all that bad for a VBIT?

I'm looking at $913 taxes included for three return trips from Victoria. One to Vegas, one to Anaheim, and then one to Paris. Is this really such a bad deal. The Vegas/Anaheim trips are gravy, but I'll gladly take a three day weekend in Vegas and my wife would go to Disneyland every week if she could. In addition, we head off to Paris. Even if we didn't do the local trips and booked as cheaply as possible for the pass (~$750 taxes in) how does that compare to what I would be expected to book to Paris otherwise? Looking in the May time frame now I can't find anything close to $750, but, well... I'm a VBIT. I'm not an expert at finding cheap travel .

I know there's blackout dates and restricted days of travel, but I'm very flexible with my travel. I guess if I'm that flexible maybe I should be shopping around for last minute flights to find a significantly better deal than $750/$913?

Like many have already pointed out, it's a reasonable deal for the flexible flyer who doesn't care about status. But believe me, if you're simply preaching about the lowest cost from A to B, you're talking to the wrong bunch of folks.

It is interesting that last year's Getaway pass (I think that is what it was called) did not offer much or anything by way of status miles, and the one the year before had a small number with purchase. The big difference was that in previous years the pass offered unlimited travel. For travel value, there is no way to beat the pass they have going now for many decent routes, especially if the long-haul add on is taken.

ps - no GST on the $199 bonus.
Anybody verify that "you really can upgrade the BONUS pass with an SSWU"? That will be the clincher for a lot of people.

Amtrak TPA-MIA is as low as $64 RT. Might be an option

Hi! I wonder if AC will offer a winter getaway pass this year. I need one for Q1 and Q2 2010.

I know this is a very late response but I did buy this pass earlier this year with the bonus. I was able to upgrade both international flights with SSWU & I got status miles too (even though the T&C stated no status miles)
