"The emergency was declared only so the Boeing 767 could get priority to land quickly at Heathrow, said Fitzpatrick, and not out of safety concerns."

That sounds absolutely horrible.

I understand enough to know they weren't declaring an emergency for no reason, but that quote makes AC sound like they're the worst.

Nice oxymoron though.

Mind you, Klaus is gone. Maybe they'll get someone more focused on safety vs. pennies?

AC 84 YYZ-TLV on May 1 2017

Well this is mildly mysterious

Tom Podolec‏ @TomPodolec 18h18 hours ago

@aircanada #AC84 #Toronto to Tel Aviv returned to gate; passenger issue/one passenger deplaned. Not police matter. Fuel added. Leaving soon

What's up with AC 850 YYC-LHR May 13 running about 6-7 hours late?

What's up? YYC-LHR , had to go YYC-YYZ, then to LHR, running about 6-7 hours late.

Incident: Canada B773 at Frankfurt on May 15th 2017, hydraulic failure

By Simon Hradecky, created Monday, May 15th 2017 23:09Z, last updated Monday, May 15th 2017 23:09Z

An Air Canada Boeing 777-300, registration C-FITL performing flight AC-877 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Toronto,ON (Canada), was climbing out of Frankfurt's runway 18 when the crew stopped the climb at FL140 reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft entered a hold for about one hour and returned to Frankfurt for a safe landing on runway 25C with open gear doors and at about 176 knots over ground about 90 minutes after departure. The aircraft was able to vacate the runway via a high speed turn off about 2700 meters/8900 feet down the runway and stopped as soon as being clear of the runway for a check by emergency services. About 10 minutes later the aircraft taxied to the apron.

The flight was cancelled.
