How many certs do I need if my itineraries as follow:

PNR1: LAX - YYZ AC794
PNR2: YYZ - HKG AC15

cnx between flights is 3 hours 30 mins.

One or two.

Technically two, but you should be able to get the person who checks you in at LAX to make a comment on your PNR2 that the cert was lifted in LAX and the gate agent at YYZ will almost certainly let you board - especially true if your upgrade clears in advance.

When can I call to upgrade on a SSWU with a H class ticket from YVR to YYZ?
I am a superelite.
Departure date is Friday, April 11, 2pm..
Can I call midnight April 4th(will there be someone that answers the phone?) or 2pm April 4th?

This is a trade secret.

Anyway, you can find out by trial and error. Or by doing a more thorough search on FT.

And if that fails, some good soul will come out and give the the answer anyway. And you'll probably like it. Enough said.

Well I called for the YVR-YYZ 2pm flight upgrade....All the I-class are gone and i was put on waitlist....Right now J is showing 5 left.
This flight is on a 763-Xm'ed..

Would it be better for me to switch to the 3pm flight, but its the 762, J is showing 9 on that flight...not sure what the I is.

or the 4pm flight which is a 319 flight...and J is showing 5..

What are my chances that by flight time, I would clear the upgrade on the 2pm with J5, and being on a H class and SE?

ac.com -> Manage my Bookings -> Single Booking
Then enter you PNR and Last Name

It should tell u either upgraded or waitlisted

Click "View Itinerary/Receipt" and you should be able to find your new seat # (if upgraded)

Now its showing J3 and i am still waitlisted......how is my chances of being cleared as a superelite?

Or should I change to the 3:30pm flight which is showing J9.

But is the older 767 versus the XM'ed 763..

I would say if you can take AM flight, take the one in the morning instead of afternoon. Most afternoon YVR - YYZ feed flight from Asia so other SE / E might on the airport list much earlier than you checking in @ local time.

Keep in mind that if you are not cleared before the departure date, AC might: (sometime ground staffs do not follow this rule, and .. who knows?)

1. Status (SE > E > P)
2. Fare (B > H > V > Q > L ...)
3. Time on the list (the earlier one get on the higher part on the airport list)

I have a question about combining waitlisting and confirmed upgrades.

Calling quite soon about a three-flight itin I have coming up, LHR-YUL-YYZ-DEN. I class is available on all legs except the first one, LHR-YUL.

Can I confirm the other two legs, whilst waitlisting for LHR-YUL? If it comes down to it I don't mind burning a cert for YUL-YYZ-DEN alone.
