First time flying Air Canada in a year or so, but happy to do so more now that my primary airline (Continental) has joined *A. Flying LAX-YYZ on Nov 20 (in T+) on AC 788, which I think means I need a SSWU.
I also know this is probably the wrong place to be asking this, but does anyone know if *G (from a partner airline obviously) can book in the elite-only reservable seats in the forward part of the economy cabin?

You are correct, a Tango Plus ticket will require a SSWU certificate for upgrade, unless it is an "M" or "U" class until Feb 2010 (in which case a SWU or even a NAU wold do). Do you happen to know what fare class you are flying?

Not sure. I know when I book through my corporate TA and choose my seats online I can choose seating for top-tier passengers only, but unsure if that is something my company has arranged or it is available for others via other means.

Looks like my fare basis is W7ORSTP, so I'm guessing W.

Okay, thanks - FWIW I tried adding my CO OnePass number as my FF# to the reservation, which I thought might enable *G to be recognized on ac.com (it's already working this way on the UA website), but it turns out that ac.com won't accept OnePass numbers yet. I called in to the AC queue and the guy who answered the phone didn't even know what I was talking about.

Yeah, called back a couple more times - was finally able to get my OP# added (though it still doesn't show online), and last customer rep said that the elite seats are held for only AC elites, not *G of other partner airlines. So that's that, it would seem.
I guess this is a little last minute, but I'm flying from CDG-YYZ tomorrow (Nov 10, 2009) on the AC881 flight. I have potentially up to 3 SW certificates. PM me if you're interested.
Alternatively, I'm flying back to Paris (YYZ-CDG) on Sun Nov 15th AC 880 (i think), I probably would still have these SW certificates left.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I will definitely try to be more active. I got lots of useful information from this forum over the years. I feel that it's my time to give back now that I've finally achieved the Elite status =)
