I'm on AC 851 (LHR-YYC) on Jan 13 and have an extra SSWU cert available. AC 850 was full in J yesterday and I didn't get the upgrade on the way over, hence the extra cert.

I was trying to search the forums for one post during the holidays about one FT'er giving their SWU and SSWU's to friends & family and indicated cases where they were able to use them, without the condition of being a travel companion.

In reading several other posts about GA's checking/not-checking the certificates, I've come to some belief (and hope) that you could technically give them away and through some miracle and hoping that's the GA is having a really good day, you would be able to get the upgrade.

When I used my SSWU's last November, the gate agent just asked for the cert without evening looking at it.

With that in mind, would anyone have expiring 2008 SSWU's that they won't be using to help me test this theory?

As well... I have several 2008 SWU's to burn before Feb 28th and MLL sponsor if you're in YWG or YVR on Jan 20th.

My no-status wife is travelling LHR-YYZ Jan. 14th, AC859. She's making a connection from India, so she could really use the upgrade. Unfortunately, she would need a SSWU.

54-minutes, not bad. If you find someone, you might consider a lottery ticket when you get to Vancouver!

haha . . . Seriously. Love the cooperation on the board but what are the chances??

I'm on AC 189 Friday Jan 23 (YOW-YVR, 515p) and realize a) C is probably close to full and b) being on a T+ flight pass, needing an SSWU makes this a long shot but thought I'd throw it out there.

Could also use an MLL pass for a friend who I'll be flying home with late January.
Will be AC *E by July 2009 and look forward to returning any favours once I get there.

If you can help, please PM me. /Thanks.

Jan. 20 YYZ-SEA

AC 541 YYZ-SEA on Jan. 20. I have oodles of SWU's available if anyone can use one on this flight.

P.S. - If anyone is on this flight and has a spare SSWU I could try to use it - I'm currently stuck in Y on a T+ ticket :-)

Jan 18 - YVR-NRT AC 001

Any FT'ers flying to NRT today? My brother is flying AC 001 YVR-NRT and I'm hoping I can connect him with a sponsor with a SSWU.

According to seatcounter.com, the Y cabin is full and there are 3 I seats available.

Any strategy to get him upgraded without a SE/E sponsor or an U/G cert?

Can't do - against the rules of the SSWU: to use the cert, you must be the one using the cert on that flight, or it is for the use of anyone else on an applicable fare on the same flight as you ... be it a hot person that you've just noticed at the gate ... or your brother

This has been in place for a few years to prevent the trading/selling of SSWUs. Also your name is on the SSWU so it is harder to escape the above rules.
