Question OT: Tripods allowed through security?

Off on my final LCA trip tomorrow. Just wondering if camera tripods are allowed through security? No clear info or interpretations at the CATSA site.

I've carried my camera tripod (retractable) through security in the US multiple times, and once in Canada (2004, though) and never had a problem. YMMV of course.

I have carried my tripod numerous times with me within US and Canada without a problem. I ran into trouble twice once in Italy and Tokyo where they wanted to checkin anything that is longer than 60cm. I have to disconnect the ballhead to be within the limit.

Let's hope security stop them, for all our sakes.

Thanks all. Got everything into domestic airside at YVR (anyone in the MLL now?) Wasn't sure if there was a crack down on tripods. Knew they were o.k. in the past.
