My flight was delayed by 3.5 hours a few months ago and I got some aeroplan points as compensation. The points (3000?) posted automatically after about a week. It was a domestic reward flight so I wasn't expecting any points.

About 5 years ago had a 9 hour rebooked to later flight due to a mechanical problem from CPH to EWR. SAS gave a $20 or so meal voucher and nothing else. Really appreciated my Diners Club access to lounge that time.
I would post this over on the US Air forum and see what their operating procedures are for delayed flights. IIRC, you are under the rules of operating airline in a codeshare situation.
Not only should this be on the US forum, if a delay of this magnitude rattles you and forces you to seek compensation, then you've not been flying very long. This is a most trivial affair, sh*t happens. Why should you expect any compensation if they are getting you out on the next scheduled flight? It's not like this route is a heavily trod one with lots of departures. Get a sense of perspective, man! A long haul with a tigh connection at the other end, sure you got an issue. But this happens dozens of times a day when airplanes go technical on limited run routes.
