Quikair: Ottawa-Kitchener and Calgary-Edmonton

Seen on a billboard: www.quikair.ca

Flies Ottawa-Kitchener and Calgary-Edmonton City Centre. Plans to add Regina and Saskatoon, and Windsor, Toronto Island, and Montreal.

QuikAir's fleet of aircraft provide you with the highest level of safety and comfort. All our aircrafts are twin turbine (Turbojet) aircrafts that seat from 10-19 passengers. The aircraft are operated by two pilots who are fully trained on the aircraft type and exceed all of Transport Canada's requirements for a scheduled airline operation.

Our aircraft are among the most reliable and proven aircraft in service today. Our fleet of King Air 100/200, Jetstream J-31's and Metro 23's are operated throughout the world with more than 400 airlines. The aircraft are all equipped with twin turbine engines that provide a fast and safe journey at more that 400 km per hour, at altitudes of more than 20,000 feet.
14 flights each way per day in the west, 2 each way in the east. All fly M-F only, no weekends.

I hope they get the YTZ service together soon. I'm in if their schedule to YOW and YUL winds up looking half as good as the western schedule. Jazz has all but walked away from YTZ and Bearskin from Buttonville only sometimes works for YOW.

Also hearing increasing rumours that a sale of Buttonville to a real estate developer is imminent.

YTZ might be a while (not sure), under "Flexibility" they say this:

Quote:
QuikAir is the premier provider of scheduled air service to Edmonton City Centre Airport & Calgary International Airport, and plans to become established in the same way with business travelers that frequent the Waterloo Region, Ottawa and Montreal (coming soon!). While QuikAir publishes a basic schedule of flights between these cities, we regularly add additional flights during busy times to satisfy the growing need for additional frequency during peak times and days.
I'd guess Kitchener-Montreal not Ottawa-Montreal.

Quick (no pun intended) update. In Kitchener, QuikAir is now doing YKF-YOW as well as YKF-YUL. Bearskin is no longer operating the YKZ-YOW route and QuikAir has picked that up as of last month. Expansion plans include YKZ-YUL, YKZ-YQG, YQG-YUL and YQG-YOW. Doesn't look like YTZ service will be starting anytime soon if at all.

Personally have a hard time believing YQR-YXE would become a viable city pair anytime in the future. Not even 3 hours by land between the two airports, yields would be poor, and plenty of competition already both from AC and others.

Does anyone actually use the AC flights that do the circle on their way to/from YYZ to do YXE-YQR? Its not like there is any frequency!

I've seen civil servants, the odd politician, and businesspeople from afar who have to visit both YXE/YQR on the flights. Since another airline already offers scheduled service on the route in addition to AC, there must be 'some' demand, albeit can't imagine enough demand to support more capacity than already exists.

It's hard to imagine they'd fly YXE-YQR and not connect to any of their other cities, although their map says that's the case. I'd have thought they'd fly to Calgary or Edmonton from Saskatchewan.

Also if they can make money doing Calgary-Edmonton 14 times a day each way, maybe YQR-YXE will be only twice a day like all their other routes. Perhaps that would be enough.
