New option on Aeroplan site: "Display Mixed Cabin"

I may be wrong but I don't remember seeing this option before. Is it new?

Often defaults to "On"

Particularly, say, when they give you YOW-YYZ-DXB on a J reward, and the Dubai portion is in economy.

Sort of like when cable companies defaulted to options, without choice.

Ethics in action

Yeah that's my biggest frustration, I don't mind a mixed cabin but you should be able to specify that you only care about the long-haul portion in J.

Worse than that is if you're based in somewhere like YYJ.

The option is completely useless, because your first segment is always going to be in Y.

There is an ACr flight to YYZ with "business class".

Mixed cabin itinerary warnings are not new but like OP don't recall seeing a button to enable/disable mixed cabin availability.

Okay fair enough, but you get my point

Let's use YGK then

Completely useless option.

Yea, I definitely get your point.

Even for airports with many J flights, this option is equally useless sometime. I remember enabling this option and I got only one option with 20+ hours layover for an intra Asia route.

It was in page code a couple months ago with the status 'disabled' (or whatever). Could change it to active and it would work. So not technically new, but first time turned on?

It's essentially Aeroplan's way of pulling a fast one on infrequent fliers who don't notice when they book - they're charged for a business class ticket, only to find out when they board they're in a middle seat way in the back.

Ethics indeed.
