odds of changing reward flight at check-in?

Hello,

I was wondering if its possible to change my return flight (YYZ-YYC) when I arrive at the airport.

Currently I have a reward ticket booked with a stopover to Montreal.
If I ask at check-in, what are the odds of me getting a change to a direct flight to Calgary?

Anyone have luck with this?
what/how should I do/ask?

Thanks!

my friend has done it twice. One time he got it for free, one time he needed to pay the SDC fee of, I think, $75

If there's space on the non-stop, there's a 100% chance of you getting it.

I have never had any issues moving from N+1 segments to N segments.

I was once able to change a LHR-YOW-YYZ award to LHR-YYZ at the airport. Any good agent should be able to do it with positive space.

Yes, you can do it. You are going to get to play the Air Canada lottery though.

- good agent. will do it for no charge, assuming space available
- good agent. will do it for SDC, assuming space available
- average agent. will do it for no charge, assuming space available
- average agent. will do it for SDC, assuming space available
- dragon agent. will simply say no

Dragons don't eat cookies! Adult bearded dragons eat 80% plants and 20% bugs and insects.

To be fair, if there is space I think 99.9% of agents would do it, and that may be 100% if you call for their supervisor.

I imagine most will charge you even if your flight is going to have IDBs though.
