Elimination of J class on Bae-146

J class will soon be eliminated on the Bae-146. It seems like the J seats will remain but no J service. This was done so the number of crew per flight can go down to 2.

Don't have the exact dates yet but I'll post when I have more info.

On routes that still have J demand, they are replacing it with mainline flights. (Such as YVR/YLW - the Bae146 flights will be replaced by mainline A319 starting in March.)

Are they planning to block off the seats for pre-reservation and preference to top tiers?

I don't know for sure yet.

Most likely similar to the 767 YUL/CDG flight in the summer which the entire aircraft is sold as Y. You can only get J seating if you have status. I would expect something similar here if the J seats are staying.

I am surprised. That's a pretty big increase in seats (Bae146 has 77 seats, A319 has 120 seats). I would have figured a 732 (100 seats) would have been better (I am assuming there are still some 732s around with J cabins).

Say for example on YVR-YLW where there are currently two Bae146 flights a day, will this turn into two A319 flights or will they be consolidated to one A319 flight?

It depends on the days of the week. Some days have 2 (M,Th,Fr,Su) and others have 1 while the Sat flights will be the Baes.

I guess demand is not there. 319's replace in April with Dash8. Also noticed YVR-YWG 320 flight replaced with BAE146. Another ZIP like flight. Only 1 mainline flight left on this route.
