AC: YOW/YYZ to South Africa - discrepancies on fares on web site - why?
I am for some random dates next July looking at business class fares from YOW or YYZ to JNB in business class.
The grid gives me the cheapest return fare in business class for just under $4000. The table (that one must use to book the actual flights) gives me the cheapest return fare (one way) of over $7000. Two weeks ago, when I did the same thing, the grid gave me the same return $4000 fare; the table gave most of the routings at over $7000 one-way; but there were a couple of routings via LHR with AC code-shared on South African Airways at this $2000 one-way or $4000 return fare. Is there a glitch here - hopefully, this $4000 fare is being offered. Of course, I am waiting for the next AC/Star Alliance business class seat sale - where the business class fare would be less than $3000.

I have a promo code for 15% off (expires at the end of next summer), if booking made on aircanada.com.
I wonder what I do if I can not see the cheaper business class tickets on the aircanada.com web site - as the promo code is only valid for such bookings.

IIRC you can forget about using it to book a flight to South Africa. These discounts are for AC flights only, not codeshares or partners, and any booking to SAfrica will involve a partner airline.

The old site is showing most routes with both discounted business class fares and full business class fares; the beta (new) web site is (for now) showing no discounted business class fares.
I did enter the promo code = the AC promo code did work on AC metal and AC code-shared flights!

As to OP's question, I was looking at fares to SA a while back (before we decided to go to Italy instead) and was having some weird issues trying to get the better fares - I could do AC-LH (or LH-AC) in one direction and get the cheap price, but couldn't do AC-LH-LH-AC or the price would explode. Had to do SA or even BA on one of the legs between SA and Europe to get the cheaper fare.
Numbers were similar - cheap fare around $4K return, expensive fares $7K one way.
Are you having the same issue? I think I posted on this in the thread on fares to SA.

I used a 15% off promo code for AC codeshares of LH flights to/from Italy a few weeks ago without any issues.

Am just back from 5 weeks in southern Africa on one of these super fares, which we booked 8 mos ago or so.
In our case trying it on the AC website got us the AC-BA combos but not the AC-SA ones we wanted (it did pop up some AC-LH). We got our travel agent to issue it (as we do on most complex tickets). He said this one was particularly tricky since at the time the booking class mapping AC to SA was "broken" on his usual reservation system and he had to phone in somewhere and quote the fare rules at them and get them to open seats up.
Regardless, about the LH availability, I believe it booked into P on LH which had quite sporadic availability only and btw offers only 50% AQM. (I'm no longer sure of the details, it's been months since we did the booking, sorry.) so may not be an AC web engine error that it is not showing up.
Good luck.
