I didnt bring up UA F - it was brought up by the forums resident post padder.
And YYZ-HKG and ORD-HKG is not apples to oranges? Anyone who would pay that money for UA GF instead of CX on HKG-ORD needs their heads examined. Similarily, if anyone paid for AC J on YYZ-HKG when CX was similriliy priced - they would need their head examined.
Climbing in Y would be more fun - especially AC HD Y

Ugh, I hate it when I'm just boarded Aisle in Y, clearly awake, seatbelt still off, and window pax arrives... and instead of giving room for me to stand up and give access, just starts stepping over AS IF it's possible. The few times this has happened, at least, it was a younger rather lean woman... The problem is it sets a precedent for the remainder of the flight. I have no problems getting up 10 times during a TCON to accommodate lav visits. Not so forgiving for 10 visits to overhead luggage, however...
I've always thought the fastest way to run front/back is along the seatback tops between pax heads, as long as you don't slip and fall into the row. The Aisle is subject to pax legs, loose underseat backpack straps, etc... kinda like inflight parkour....

ac has better food and better booze, and a far better lounge in yyz int.
ua has better service, slightly, and wifi
both have similar hard product, similar ife
yyz cbp has chronic long lineups like all usa cbp checkpoints now, long gone are the days where canadian pre clearance seemed immune from cbp budget/staffing cuts. everyone seems to think this is the result of some temporary "labor action" (canadians, eh?) but it's staffing and budget.

I would agree UA has an edge over AC. And, at least they give 100% miles when you sit in the back.
Neither are customer service winners, but I've had more surly AC staff than UA staff.
Then again, I've had more surly AC staff than all other airlines combined.

What is this adversity to "climbing over" people...
1) You can just wake your neighbour and ask him/her to get up and out of the way. Like a good Canadian, just make sure you say sorry every third word like you mean it.
2) You can feign poor coordination and brush up, a bonus?
3) You could try to coordinate your lav trip to match your neighbour's, a bonus?
4) You could pee in a bag, cup, bin, your pants, shoes (but not aisle apparently). Hospitals do this.
I don't like it when others climb (or attempt to) over me, because not everyone is coordinated enough... but if I'm the climber, I'm fine with it.
I wonder if the claimed higher humidity in the 787 would result in more lav trips?
I need to try UA J. Never had the pleasure of climbing...

Hi. looking for opinions on AC vs UA business class. The route will be Hong Kong to Boston. I have flown UA lots so very familiar with their service. Looking for feed back on the seats (on a 77L), food and entertainment system on AC. I know the seat layout is better in AC but that is about it. Thanks in advance.

As a long time mostly UA flyer, AC J > UA J.
I like the direct aisle access in AC J, though if you're traveling with a companion, its nice to be together
I'd go with whatever schedule is better for you. And keep in mind, connecting over ORD vs. EWR vs. YYZ, EWR and ORD have far more ATC delay issues than YYZ.

United is a much more advanced airline than Air Canada. Just look at this ticket that UA was able to sell me, it even includes complimentary time travel services to land at Kai Tak airport in HK! In Y! Does AC even offer its J pax time travel?
