GSP in talks to bring Air Canada to Upstate

http://www.wyff4.com/news/GSP-in-tal...state/39284490

GREER, S.C. — The massive renovation of the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport, or GSP, is just a few months out from being done.

The project's completion is set for October.

The deeper lobby and ticket area are almost finished and by Memorial Day the new, consolidated TSA Security area will open.

Meanwhile, airport officials are trying to attract more airlines to GSP.

The airport has been courting JetBlue for several years. Dave Edwards the airport president and CEO, said Frontier, Spirit and Air Canada have also been approached.

In fact Edwards says the airport has a scheduled meeting with Air Canada in Montreal in a few months.

I was there on Monday, took a United flight in an Embraer 175 to Chicago and then Montreal.

The airport is indeed under renovation and had flights of AA, Delta, Southwest and United.

They're doing a good job with airport improvements.

Michelin would like GSP-YHZ and Resolute Forest Products would use GSP-YUL.

We are excited about this development!

Although we are living in Budapest, Spartanburg is our home. We have been using GSP since we took our first flight in 1994.

We have been home several times over the past few years and have watched the changes being made.

In the not too distant past, there was only a kiosk for drinks and snacks once you cleared security. The last few times we were there however, we enjoyed a meal in Concourse A at the new restaurant.
